Ciliatech are delighted to announce the appointment of Eleticia (“Ele”) Szozda as Global Surgical Training Consultant, joining the company to strengthen its global surgical education programme and support the commercialisation of the Intercil® Uveal Spacer, while reporting directly to Sahil Syed, VP Sales & Marketing.
In her new role, Ele will lead global surgical training initiatives for Intercil®, supporting both the early commercialisation phase in Europe and future global clinical trial activities. She will train Ciliatech field team members to become independent surgical proctors, provide hands-on surgical education to ophthalmic surgeons, and help establish a consistent, high-quality global training programme. Drawing on her extensive expertise in glaucoma surgery training, she will play a key role in supporting the successful adoption and commercialisation of the Intercil® Uveal Spacer worldwide.
Prior to joining Ciliatech, Ele gained more than 40 years of experience in ophthalmology, specialising in surgical education, clinical development and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS). She began her career as a diagnostic technician before helping establish a successful ophthalmic clinic and laser refractive surgery centre in Houston, Texas. She later spent 5 years at Refractec delivering global surgical training before joining Transcend Medical, where she played a key role in the clinical development of the CyPass® Microstent, identifying clinical partners, negotiating agreements and leading clinical trial programmes across Latin America and Europe. Most recently, she spent 10 years at Alcon and Sight Sciences, delivering global surgical training for several MIGS technologies, including the CyPass® Microstent, Hydrus® Microstent and OMNI® Surgical System.
Ele’s appointment further strengthens Ciliatech’s global clinical education capabilities and reinforces the company’s commitment to delivering world-class surgical training as Intercil® expands into international markets. Her extensive expertise in glaucoma surgery education and clinical training will play an important role in supporting surgeons worldwide and ensuring the successful adoption of Intercil® across both commercial and clinical settings.
